Nature Study Friday

This year I have tried to make Fridays, Nature Study day. So far we have been able to just go right around the house to find things to study. Today we went to check out the leaves on the trees around the plant. We found leaves from many different plants.
While hunting for leaves we could hear someone whistling--it was Papa Love. How
excited you got Micah when you saw Papa. Any time you see Papa Love both of you raise your hangs in the air and yell PAPA!!!! Usually you run to him and give lots of hugs and kisses but today you had to blow a kiss due to Papa getting back to work.

Papa Love has lots of orange trees growing on the property. We really enjoy picking the oranges when they are a bright color of orange but today they all seemed to be still GREEN. So today we just picked a leaf or two from the tree. Looking forward to some good sweet oranges this year!!!!
Dr Manuel lives right next door to us. He has lots of goodies growing in his yard also. One that we love are wild blackberries. But unfortunately it is not blackberry season either so we had to settle for just a leaf or two. One our way back to the house we also took a couple of big leaves from the banana tree. It was really cute because both Grant and Zoe, you were using the big leaves to cover your heads as an umbrella to block the sun. Grant you were even kind enough to share you big leaf and give Mommie and Malia some shade.
After the big hunt for leaves, we sat under the carport and drew on white paper what we found. Mommie used free hand drawing, Zoe you chose to trace the leaves and Grant you chose to draw a picture of the banana tree with the fence. Afterwards we took scissors and cut out of the banana leaves -letters of all three of your names. All of you thought that was pretty cool.

While we were drawing our leaves, I gave Grant a chance to do some photography. Grant you told me that you were trying to be creative with your pictures and these are the ones you took. You mentioned to me that not all pictures have peoples faces and smiles all the time. You thought it was okay to have just the hands and drawings and leaves. Well I think you did a great job.

Zoe, the meaning of your name is LIFE. Well I have no doubt that you live up to your name. You enjoy doing activities but lately you get bored really fast. You usually last about 10 to 15 minutes of most activities and then you are ready to move on. I try very hard to have something waiting for you to do when you get to this point. Well today I thought the leaves would hold your attention a little longer than they did but I was wrong. Since I had nothing for you to do right away you seemed to entertain your self by climbing into the stroller--I looked up and grab the camera for a cute shot of my 5 year old in the stroller. I love you Zoe---I often wish I had the energy that you have EVERY day. Thanks for bringing so much LIFE into our family. You always seems to bring laughter into our home with your cute silliness! I trust God has BIG plans for you and your delightful personality--I pray that you will always be open to what He has to offer you in the years to come.
