Our Nature Study of Humming Birds

Good Ole Fridays!!!!
School on Fridays are usually laid back and catch up time on unfinished work, or projects that we just didn't get to and best of all Nature Study.

This month we are checking out nature in our back yard. As in a previous blog we had the joy of our very own possum visit us on our first day of school, well today we were checking out our humming birds.

We recently put up three new bird feeders around the house. Each one of you take turns choosing the color of the juice. Grant, you picked orange, yellow and red this week. Today we noticed that they are almost out of juice. So we will need to fill them up again really soon.

After checking out the birth of a humming bird online, Grant and Zoe you both headed out side with crayons and colored pencils. While sitting very close to the feeders, the humming birds started to fly all around you. Grant you were so very excited because one flew by your head twice while you were talking to Zoe. Plus you could hear them "talking" to one another. Zoe you couldn't get over the noises they were making.

The pictures that you drew came out great. Mommie enjoyed watching you both get into your even had a humming bird fly right by her face but was to slow with the camera. drawings. MommiePoppie was excited about all of this humming bird watching, that later in the evening he took the camera outside and got some really good shots of the humming birds eating.

Meanwhile, Micah you were watching Signing Time - Down on Leah's Farm, this is you signing squirrel . You love to watch the sighing time movies. Mommie is so grateful that Mrs . Erin told me about these movies. We have all learned most of our signing from them. I can't wait for you to help me teach Malia the signing that you have learned in the last year.

Today for lunch when Poppie came home , Micah and Poppie had their own little jam session. Micah you discovered the CD player with a micro phone. I could hear some jazz music and some loud singing. We really all love it that we get to see Poppie everyday at lunch time.

Our evening ended with Mrs Aimee coming over to help Mommie get things together for our big day tomorrow. We are Baptizing Malia tomorrow!!! Hooray!!!!! I put a movie on for all three of you and I couldn't help but grab a quick photo of you all watching it together.
