Ben Franklin by Grant Pio

This month we are learning about Ben Franklin.
Here is a summary of what Grant remembers about this great man.

When Ben Franklin was a little boy he was the 10Th kid of 17 children. When was a little older he invented paddles so he could swim very very fast. One day he was flying his kite by the pond he took off his clothes and jumped in and let the kite guide him. His friend took his clothes to the other side of the pond. He discovered that lightening is electricity. A dangerous experiment (don't ever try this) He flew a kite in a thunder storm and he put a key on the string- the lighten stroke the kite He touched the key and He felt the shocking of lightening. Don't ever try that at home. He also made the first Franklin Stove. He went to this place and taught how lightening is electricity. He got married there and had 3 children. One died from being really sick.
Ben later went to England to talk about our country being free. Because of him we pop fireworks on July 4Th because we are free.
