Padre Pio Pray for Us

Today is Saint Padre Pio's day. Grant today is your special day because he is your patron saint. You received many phone calls today to wish you a happy saint day!
You requested this morning that we would attend Mass-so that is what we did.
Mommie, Zoe, Malia and you all went to Mass at 6pm. You were very proud during Mass to know that you have a name of a great man.

Padre Pio is very important to your parents--we first learn about him on a pilgrimage to Italy in 1997. We had never heard of Padre Pio before this trip. When visiting San Giavani a friend of Padre Pio's gave us a tour. He told us many personal stories of Padre Pio and took us to see his very own bed and room.
After returning from this trip we ask Padre Pio for prayer many times. He became part of our lives and still today brings us closer to Jesus .

Mommie and Poppie would eat at a certain restaurant in Lafayette, which is closed now. But, On the night that Poppie asked Mommie to marry him we went alone to this restaurant to celebrate. When we were checking out Mommie noticed something we never saw before--right above the door was a picture of Padre Pio. With all the times we had been there before that special night we had never seen the picture. We both felt like that was Padre Pio letting us know that he loves us and that he was offering us up as a couple now to Our Lord.
He is a very remarkable man--He loved Our Lord dearly.
He is special to us also because he is a Saint of our times.
