Our Thanksgiving Day

The weather man says there will be rain. So our camping trip had to be canceled. What a blessing! God had different plans for us today. Even though we would have all loved to be camping at the end of the day we realized God put us where He wanted us to be. Serving Him!!!
We attended 9am Mass at Our Lady of Wisdom this morning, visited awhile afterwards then headed back home. Yesterday when I realized that we would not be going camping I called Bailey's restaurant to volunteer our family to deliver meals. For the past 16years Mr Emma has been cooking for the needy and shut ins. Mr Greg and Mrs Courtney shared their experience with us and Poppie felt called to serve in that way this year. Unfortunately when Mommie called to sign us up they said they were full for volunteers.
Poppie wanted to stop by Bailey's to see if they needed help or if someone canceled--So we said a prayed and asked Jesus to provide some names if it was his will.
We were so thankful-Poppie came out with three people to deliver to.
Grant you were able to deliver the first meal with Poppie--
The next home had two meals so both Grant and Zoe got down to help Poppie deliver the meals.
The last meal we had to deliver wasn't as easy--The phone number and address didn't match up and we found the street but couldn't find the home. The address wasn't even right so after talking to Bailey's they said do as we please with the meal.
Well for as long as Poppie and I can remember there is always someone asking for food or money at the Ambassador Caffery Exit off the interstate. So we drove there and gave the meal to the man on the corner. He thanked us and immediately went sit in the grass to eat.
Our family felt like that man was our Jesus today. We are very grateful that we were able to serve others with our children to witness. Our prayer for each of you is that through out life you will be open to serve others and to be selfless.

After leaving Lafayette we went to pick up Gammie. She was able to stay with us all afternoon. Grant, Poppie took you next door in the field to go "hunting". It was your first time and you were overly excited. The babies took naps while Zoe, Mommie, and Gammie played GO FISH. We even had time to color together. Zoe you insisted that Gammie take home the picture that we colored.
Our Thanksgiving dinner was very good--Poppie cooked baby back ribs and rice dressing. Poppie also made his rum cake. Well let me say he directed Grant and Zoe how to make his favorite cake. Both of you did a fantastic job cooking. The cake was certainly Delish!!!!

The following are some pics from the day. The first one is one of my favorites. Look at Malia's face. I wish I could read her mind. Micah wanted in on the picture taking and this is what we got. It was fun!!!!!!

Grant you didn't kill anything but you did hit a can:)
