Getting Ready for Advent

Advent for our family is a VERY busy season. In the past years Mommie was working full time for Cajun Power--this would be a season of a lot of packing boxes for the business and not spending much time with my kids. In the last couple of years, God has blessed us tremendously, in the sense that I don't pack any more boxes. All I have to do is take care of the computer work for our packages. I can mainly do this job late at night or very early in the morning. This has freed up some of Mommie's time to give to each of you for Advent.

This year I really had a desire to change Advent for our family. Although we will still be busy with Cajun Power business, our family will still live with Advent in our hearts. After sharing ideas with many friends this is what our family will do this year: Some are our old traditions and some will be our new traditions.

A Jesse Tree: A very simple Jesse tree but all in all a Jesse Tree. Mommie has heard of a Jesse Tree before but had never actually had one growing up or had one in our home. So this year we will have the Jesse tree for our morning prayer during Advent.

For our evening prayer we will continue to have our Advent wreath at dinner time or at lunch time if we know we will be out. We will be praying a special prayer each night and discussing what was happening with Mary and Joseph before Jesus arrived.

We will have an Advent paper chain made of purple and pink links. Each day we will open a link and do the deed, chore or sacrifice on the link. Each day we will add one to three ornaments on our tree. This way our Christmas tree we will start off with an Advent tree and daily make it a Christmas tree. This is a reminder that Advent is a time to prepare our hearts for Jesus.

We will also celebrate very important Saints this season. More on that later.....

I look forward to a great Advent with each of you!

May the love of Jesus dwell in our heart this Advent season...May we wake up Christmas morning with the real reason for the season on our hearts.
